V piatok nez sme vyrazili do Mamallapuram nas s Katkou Ozana poziadala, aby sme z vyletu zostavili kratku spravu ktoru potom uverejni v pripravovanom Trainee newsletteri.
Mamallapuram
The trip started very good – maybe too good when we were allowed to leave work at 3pm without any problems to catch the 4.20 train to Chennai.
But our good luck was soon over. When we arrived to Secunderabad station, we found out our train is already one hour late, even though it hasn’t even left the station yet! Soon we met the rest of our action team – Stephanie, Carlos and Phillip, and learned that Carlos is not joining us for the journey back. First I thought he’s decided to stay in Mamallapuram for the whole week, but then he told us he’s actually flying back… too scared of terrible Mr. Suresh Songa and his actions if he came late on Monday.
Instead of 6am we arrived to Chennai after 9am, and went directly to the bus station to take a local bus to Mamallapuram. After the small incident with stolen beers and passports we decided to change our nationality and drink from the coconuts. The problem here was that the coconuts were already ferment so some of us got drunk. Suddenly, those people ran into the sea so we lost two of the eight Brazilians that were with us. One minute of silence for them… 1, 2, ….15 ok enough. Any way we had a lot of Brazilians to admire and enjoy. The survivors had to face a terrible hangover and Katarina finish all the water we had so she decided to drink water from the toilet but fortunately Lubica stopped her just on time. Instead of this unconventional method to cure the hangover we found out an ancient technique named Kujti Huy Tur that means “I am feeling stupid for what I did yesterday night”. That remedy consists on running naked through the beach with six remaining Brazilians screaming “wow”. The only problem with that is that instead feeling better you just want to disappear. Until then we complete understood that we translate bad what “Kujti Huy Tur” means, the actual meaning is “I am feeling so stupid but I will do it again”.
So, this is the true and unembellished story of our wonderful weekend in Mamallapuram. Maybe someone could object that there were actually not eight, but nine Brazilians around, and ask how come Jaime wrote this report, but those are just the details…
A nasa verzia udalosti...
Mamallapuram (25.-27.Nov)
Katarina, Lubi, Stephanie, Carlos and Phillip
The trip started very good – maybe too good, as we were allowed to leave work at 3pm without any problems to catch the 4.20 train to Chennai.
To Chennai we arrived late – but what is three hours compared to the whole weekend? The sky was blue, the sun was shining, so without losing any time we moved to bus station; where after a small incident with stolen wallet and interesting police investigation (“What is the number of the cab that brought you here?”) we finally reached our final destination – Mamallapuram, a small beach two hours from Chennai.
We changed quickly to our swimming costumes, but as soon as we stepped on the beach (50metres from hotel), it started to rain. We hid to the nearest beach restaurant. The Bangalore team was already sitting there enjoying good food and beer. When the shower passed, we decided to check the sea. The beach was a bit dirty with many fishing boats, the sea warm, but the wild waves made swimming almost impossible. However, at least we were a good attraction for the Indian guys staring at the girls in bikini…
After cleaning ourselves from the sand we decided to discover the city (= look what kind of stuff we can buy here). After successfully fulfilling this difficult task it was time for dinner! Oh all that good seafood, beefsteaks, French fries… followed by beer, beer, beer and some more beer (actually when we came for breakfast next morning, the first question was “how many beers?”). After the Ho-So-Go-No drinking game we were ready to move on (must admit it was not completely voluntary…).
The rest of the story includes a romantic campfire on the beach with a guitar and some drunk Indians joining the party, home-made shisha, taking a swim in the hotel pool at 5am and seeing the sunrise on the beach trying to retrieve some warmth from the dying fire… well, you know… what happened in Mamallapuram, stays in Mamallapuram.
The next day was just like any other hangover Sunday in Hyderabad… well… maybe there were a few slight differences like the sea, beach, Brazilians playing the guitar… and we were so sorry we had to leave already.
So, we cannot really give a report about the tourist attractions in Mamallapuram, as we’ve only seen one temple from behind the fence and we heard that there should be some nicer beach 200m north, but… we can just say that Mamallapuram is a relaxed, friendly city with good restaurants and a nice beach with only a few cows and definitely worth a visit – especially with a cool group of trainees like we were ;)
Rozhodnutie ktora verzia bude nakoniec uverejnena uz nie je v nasich rukach.
Ja som za tu Jaimeho...
